Plastic Surgical Procedures For Every Need

In addition to laser and non-surgical treatments, our expert plastic surgery team offers a broad range of plastic surgical procedures to help you feel as happy and comfortable as possible in your body.

Rhinoplasty

For patients who want to change the shape and appearance of their nose, rhinoplasty may be a solution. At Virginia Ear Nose and Throat, the rhinoplasty procedure is also used to repair deviated septums. Rhinoplasties can:

  • Reduce the size of the nose

  • Straighten a crooked nose

  • Smooth a bump in the nose

  • Lower a high nose

  • Narrow a wide nose

  • Fix breathing problems

Commonly known as a nose job, rhinoplasty is performed under general or deep sedation. During the procedure, Dr. Burke moves bones or cartilage from the face to restructure the nose to the patient’s desire. Sometimes Dr. Burke will need to make a cartilage graft using cartilage from another part of the body. To learn more about rhinoplasty pre and post-operative instructions, click here.

Rhytidectomy (Facelift)

As we age, the face naturally sags and wrinkles. Rhytidectomy is commonly combined with the neck lift procedure, which addresses sagging skin in the neck. The facelift procedure tightens and smoothes the skin, addressing the following:

  • Sagging appearance of the face, especially the cheeks

  • Excess skin at the lower jawline

  • Deeps on the sides of the nose and the corner of the mouth

Before the procedure, Dr. Burke and his team will discuss the surgery with you, including pre-operative instructions, desired results and aftercare instructions. The type of anesthesia used will also be discussed beforehand. There are several different types of incisions used for facelift surgery, but typically Dr. Burke begins the surgery by placing small incisions in the skin from the ear to the hairline. This incision allows the tissues under the skin to be repositioned or removed. The skin is then replaced and closed with stitches. Eyelift

Patients who choose eyelift surgery, also called blepharoplasty, seek to improve the appearance of the skin around the eyes. It can be used to improve vision in patients with loose skin that blocks the eyes. Eyelift surgery can be performed on sagging, loose or excess skin either above or below the eye, or on both.

After administering anesthesia, Dr. Burke either makes an incision to the crease on the upper eyelid or below the lash line on the lower lid. Once the excess skin has been removed, the skin is tightened and then secured back in place with sutures or skin glue.

Facial Sculpting/Fat Injections

Facial sculpting with fat grafting, commonly known as fat transfer, lipostructure or micro fat injection, is a combination method of transferring fat to add volume to the face. The fat is removed from areas such as the abdomen or thighs, where there is often excess fat. It’s then purified and placed into the desired areas of the face with a small syringe. Facial sculpting with fat grafting uses your own body to achieve the desired results. Common areas of the face treated include:

  • The cheeks

  • The folds around the nose

  • Under the eyes

  • Around the mouth

  • The forehead

  • The lips

Otoplasty

People with prominent ears often feel self-conscious about their appearance. Commonly known as ear surgery, otoplasty surgery helps make ears that stick out less noticeable. This surgery can also help reduce the size of the ears in patients with large ears. After the ears have grown to their full size, which is usually by the age of five, most patients become candidates for this procedure.

During this procedure, patients are placed under anesthesia and Dr. Burke makes incisions in the skin of the outer ears. He will move or fold the ears into a corrected position and close the incisions with sutures.

Chin/Neck Sculpting

Loose skin on the chin and neck is a common part of aging that makes people unhappy with their appearance. One type of mentoplasty enhances the appearance of the chin with the addition of an implant directly on the bone. This helps restore facial symmetry to patients with a soft chin. Another kind of mentoplasty reduces the appearance of the chin by removing part of the bone. For both procedures, Dr. Burke carefully makes an incision in the mouth or under the chin before closing the incision.
