A native of Richmond, Virginia, Dr. James May IV graduated from the University of Virginia and the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He then completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at the University of South Florida.
Dr. May is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the American Medical Association, the Virginia Society of Otolaryngology, the Medical Society of Virginia and the Richmond Academy of Medicine. He has been recognized with the esteemed Top Docs award by Richmond Magazine in 2024, showcasing his exceptional expertise and dedication to improving the health and well-being of his patients.
Dr. May is married and has 3 sons, including a set of twins. In his spare time, Dr. May enjoys fishing, playing the guitar and generally spending time outdoors.
